The Jacksonville Jaguars returned to training camp on the same day their highly scrutinized rookie class received their first set of grades from a pretty prominent source.
The annual release of player ratings for the Madden NFL video game franchise has begun, with the new 99 Club and rookie grades unveiled July 29. (Sorry, Jags fans, Trevor Lawrence did not join Matthew Stafford and Josh Allen among those with the game's best overall rating.)
General manager James Gladstone raised his fair share of eyebrows at April's NFL draft with his 10 picks. Without a first-round pick when he traded up for Travis Hunter in 2025, Gladstone opened the Jaguars' book with Nate Boerkircher, a relative unknown tight end out of Texas A&M who set a career high his senior year with 19 catches for 198 yards. But the Jags weren't looking to make a splash this year, as a 13-4 record hinted they're just a few pieces away from contending for a Super Bowl.
Their two most highly regarded rookies, Albert Regis from A&M and Oregon's Emmanuel Pregnon, are the team's highest graded rookies by Madden's standards. Regis comes in as the sixth-highest rookie defensive tackle (Florida alum Caleb Banks is first with a 76 overall rating for the Vikings), while Pregnon is the No. 6 guard, looking up at former Miami lineman Francis Mauigoa and current Miami Dolphin Kadyn Proctor.
The highest-rated rookies were former Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, now with the Dallas Cowboys, and Notre Dame-turned-Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love, both at 82. Complete Madden 27 ratings will be rolled out throughout the week in anticipation of the game's forthcoming release date.
Here's how each Jaguars rookie grades out in the initial Madden 27 ratings. Below are each rookie's overall rating along with speed, strength and awareness.
The worldwide release for Madden NFL 27 is set for 2 p.m. ET Thursday, Aug. 13 for the Standard Edition. Early access is available Thursday, Aug. 6 with an MVP+ subscription with EA and Monday, Aug. 10 for those who bought the Deluxe Edition.
The Standard Edition costs $69.99, while the Deluxe Edition costs $99.99. The MVP Bundle that includes Deluxe Editions for both Madden 27 and College Football 27 is $149.99.
Madden 27 is available to play on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. It is also available for download on Steam, Epic Games and the EA app for Windows. There is also a mobile version for phones, as well as an Apple Arcade version.
