Newly drafted Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III already has history with quarterback Caleb Williams before they even step on the NFL field together.

Meeting with the media after he was selected by Chicago with the 39th overall pick, Burden revealed that he and Williams were actually supposed to be teammates at Oklahoma, but the quarterback left the Sooners following coach Lincoln Riley to USC. Burden played his entire collegiate career at Missouri.

"I know a lot about him (Williams), me and him were supposed to be teammates before, but the world works in mysterious ways," Burden said. "I'm excited to finally unite with him and get to work. I definitely followed his career, I watched a lot of his game, he was the No. 1 pick, I'm definitely a big fan of him and I'm excited to get to work with him."

Williams and Burden may not have played together in college, but now Burden will be part of a very dangerous wide receiver room that is headlined by DJ Moore and Rome Odunze. After losing Keenan Allen in free agency this offseason, the Bears brought in more reinforcements in the passing game for the second-year quarterback looking to take a big step forward under new head coach and offensive play caller Ben Johnson.
