There aren't many players who Atlanta Hawks fans absolutely despise, but it's safe to assume that Spurs center Luke Kornet just jumped to the top of that list.
Just a week after Kornet voiced his disproval of the Hawks' "Magic City Night" promotion for their March 16 game against the Magic, the NBA took notice and canceled the event. The Hawks had announced the promotion back on Feb. 26 as a nod to the iconic strip club (though the Hawks didn't specifically mention it as such). The game was going to include Magic City Hawks merchandise, lemon pepper wings and a performance from T.I.
No dancers were going to be involved, but the NBA opted against the promotion after Kornet's comments made waves throughout the basketball community. The Hawks still intend to continue some of the planned components, but the merchandise — which had tickets soaring on the secondary market — would not be part of the night.
The notion that a player on a different team would take such a vocal stance against the promotion was odd from the beginning. The Hawks and Spurs will not play again this season. Kornet has no ties to Atlanta but still felt compelled to comment about the event.
That was enough to turn the Spurs center into a meme.
It'll be a bit of a wait, but Hawks fans will certainly remember this when Kornet comes to Atlanta next season.

Luke Kornet said “no more Magic City night”, poof it’s gone.
Giannis said “I want out” and he still in Milwaukee.
It’s clear who has more motion in this league.
