Luka Doncic was given his 16th technical foul of the season during the Los Angeles Lakers' 116-99 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday when he lightly pushed forward Ziaire Williams and Williams reacted by hitting Doncic in the upper chest. Per NBA rules, when a player reaches 16 technical fouls in a season, he is automatically suspended for one game.
Doncic had previously been given his 16th technical foul of this season this past Saturday in a 105-104 win against the Orlando Magic when he and big man Goga Bitadze exchanged trash talk. But the league rescinded that technical the following day, saving him from a one-game suspension.
This time, however, the technical Doncic received on Friday wasn't rescinded, which means he will serve a one-game suspension on Monday when the Lakers host the Washington Wizards.
Via ESPN:
Overall, Doncic has been on a fantastic run lately. In the month of March, he's averaging 37.2 points on 49.1% field-goal shooting and 38.7% from 3-point range, 8.2 rebounds and 7.1 assists a game. He has won the last two Western Conference Player of the Week awards, and thanks to his exploits, the Lakers have won 14 of their last 16 games and have risen to third place in the Western Conference.
On the season, Doncic is averaging 33.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
