This fall starts a new era of LSU football but that isn’t hampering expectations in Baton Rouge. Lane Kiffin is the new head coach of the Tigers and he’s looking to make a splash from the jump.
If efforts on the recruiting trail are any indication, he and his staff are well on their way to doing just that. LSU has been — and still is, in some cases — at the center of some of the more high-profile recruitments of the 2027 cycle.
As of July 16, the Tigers have 16 commitments and a class that sits at No. 10 nationally, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. There’s four industry top-100 prospects at the top of the class.
The headliner is Ruston (La.) five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson. He chose the Tigers over Nebraska at the beginning of May. Hudson is also an elite basketball recruit and plans to play both sports at the next level.
He could be a huge target for Cotton Valley (La.) Evangel Christian Academy four-star quarterback Peyton Houston. The 5-foot-10 passer is now the No. 8 QB in the nation and he’s been pledged since last September.
LSU has a pair of blue-chip running backs committed in Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes four-star Tre Segarra and Winnsboro (La.) Franklin Parish four-star Trey Martin. They are both top-10 recruits at the position heading into their senior seasons.
Two dynamic EDGE prospects highlight the commits on the defensive side of the ball: Chesterfield (Va.) Lloyd C. Bird four-star Chris Whitehead and Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson four-star K.J. Green.
