On Wednesday, Tori Edwards was recognized as one of the Top 25 Finalists for the 2025 USA Softball Player of the Year award.

The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, now in its 23rd season, honors exceptional athletic performance among Division I female collegiate softball players across the country.

Edwards is among the 12 SEC players selected as Top 25 finalists and is one of only two freshmen on the list. She has had an outstanding season, topping LSU with a .423 batting average from 60 hits, scoring 50 runs, and achieving 68 RBIs as the regular season comes to a close. The redshirt freshman has established new single-season records with 18 home runs and a .901 slugging percentage.

Freshman first baseman Tori Edwards recorded six at-bats and one hit before suffering a ligament tear in her foot, forcing her to sit out the remainder of the 2024 season. This season, she has quickly made her mark as a significant offensive player, not just for the No. 5 Tigers, but across the Southeastern Conference.

Edwards, a coveted recruit from Edward S. Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas — the same institution that brought forth Tigers starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier — has handled the injury with resilience and is now compensating for lost time.

The Top 10 Finalists will be announced on Wednesday, May 14, followed by the Top 3 on Monday, May 19. The 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be unveiled prior to the NCAA Women’s College World Series.
