Arkansas junior Bri Ellis is making headlines across the college softball world with a season that blends elite power, precision, and consistency. The first baseman was recently named a Top 25 Finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, a recognition that reflects the scale of her 2025 performance and her influence on Arkansas’s rise to national prominence.

Through 46 games, Ellis is hitting an eye-popping .491 with 54 hits, 24 home runs, and 65 RBIs. Her 1.218 slugging percentage leads the nation, and her 1.863 on-base plus slugging (OPS) is the highest ever recorded since the stat began being tracked by the NCAA in 2016. She’s also getting on base at a .645 clip, adding to her status as one of the toughest outs in the country.

These aren’t just good numbers, they’re historic. Ellis is on pace to become only the sixth player in NCAA history to hit over .480 while launching more than 20 home runs in a single season. Her impact is seen game in and game out, with 18 multi-hit games and 17 multi-RBI efforts.

Breaking Records, Setting Standards

Ellis’s production has rewritten the Arkansas record books. She currently holds program records in seven offensive categories, including home runs (24), RBIs (65), batting average (.491), and total bases (134). The Houston native has been the engine of a Razorbacks lineup that has lifted Arkansas to a top-10 national ranking and put them in a strong position heading into postseason play.

Among the 25 finalists, Ellis is one of 12 players from the Southeastern Conference, underscoring the depth of talent in what many consider the nation’s most competitive league. The list, which includes athletes from 18 NCAA Division I programs and four major conferences, will be trimmed to 10 on May 14. Three finalists will be announced on May 19, and the winner will be named before the Women’s College World Series begins on May 29.

Future Looks Bright

Ellis’s season is already earning attention beyond the college ranks. After a doubleheader sweep of Colorado State, she was presented with a “golden ticket” from the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL), guaranteeing her selection in the league’s inaugural draft this June. She becomes just the third player to receive the honor.

“It was an amazing feeling,” Ellis said. “I’m thankful for everyone who’s helped me grow and encouraged me to be my best.”

Arkansas will finish its regular season with a three-game series against No. 10 LSU at Bogle Park. With the postseason fast approaching, Ellis continues to prove why she’s one of the most dynamic players in the sport.
