Louisville played a balanced game against Stanford and never trailed and racked up another 20-win season. They finished with five players in double figures with Mackenly Randolph and Laura Ziegler having career highs. However, Coach Jeff Walz was not impressed with his team’s outing.

Coach Walz said, “Actually I don’t think we played well at all. It was not a good performance by us. I thought offensively we were very stagnant. Really a game where we weren’t cutting hard, we were watching, then when we did do some things we looked good.”

Mackenly Randolph had 13 of her 14 points in the first half. She went 3 for 3 from the three point line in the first quarter to give the Cards a boost out of the gate. She also had 6 rebounds. Laura Ziegler shook off her little slump and had a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Tajianna Roberts had 10 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Imari Berry had 4 points, but she also went down late in the 4th quarter with what is apparently a sprained ankle.

Coach Walz was also not impressed with the fact that Stanford pressed in the final two minutes. “The don’t press the entire game and then when I make some subs and put the bench in that’s when they turn around and press. Back when I was a real jackass I would’ve put my starters back in and then pressed them.” He was also frustrated with the replay, “The review system they have here is absolutely archaic. You would think being an educational institution like Stanford they could figure that out. We couldn’t even get the replay on the iPad…. that’s one of the complaints I’ll have with the league office because that has to get better.”

Next up the Cards stay on the West Coast to take on Cal this Sunday. The game is at 2PM and can be see on The CW.
