Seth Trimble, who spent the last four seasons playing key roles at North Carolina, is transferring to Louisville for his final year of college hoops.
Trimble, who entered the transfer portal in the spring, became an option for Louisville to add after a Colorado district court ruling last month that gave Class of 2022 high schoolers an extra season of college eligibility.
As a “senior” in 2025-26, Trimble averaged 14.0 points and 3.0 assists per game for the Tar Heels. He scored a career-high 30 points in a win over Louisville. Perhaps most notably, Trimble hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer un UNC’s upset of arch-rival Duke.
After going undrafted in June, Trimble averaged 10.8 ppg for the Washington Wizards in the NBA’s Summer League. He did not, however, sign an official contract with the Wizards, a move which left the door open for him to return to college.
Known for his defensive prowess and ability to attack the rim than his outside shooting (28.6 percent from three last year), Trimble is an interesting add for a Louisville team that seemed to be more or less set in the backcourt. I suppose when you have the opportunity to add an experienced, All-ACC caliber performer, you take it regardless of your current situation.
One thing that Trimble absolutely adds that U of L may have been lacking is a knack for making the biggest play at the biggest moment. It’s not just the Duke shot, either. Look at how many of the plays in this reel are game-saving, game-winning type plays.
To quote Jeff Brohm, “all we can do right now is the use the current rules that are out there to the best of our advantage.”
These are strange times, bit if you’re standing still when you have the opportunity to move forward, you’re basically moving backwards.
Now the big question will become whether or not PK and company are done with preseason acquisitions.
