The Los Angeles Rams are facing serious uncertainty with one of their top stars as the 2026 NFL regular season approaches next month.
Puka Nacua is established as one of the elite pass catchers in the entire league. However, the Rams could be without the wide receiver after leaving practice early this week.

Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay details a mysterious injury regarding Nacua at the conclusion of training camp Tuesday. This news comes after the Rams faced another injury scare with Myles Garrett earlier in the day.
It’s unclear what the extent of the injury is, but it’s a troubling development as the Rams advance towards their first preseason game on Aug. 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Nacua’s already facing off-field concerns that could put him in jeopardy of missing regular season games. NFL insider Adam Schefter reveals that Nacua is one of several stars facing a potential suspension.

The Rams have an elite one-two punch at receiver with Nacua and Davante Adams catching passes. However, the team is relying heavily on both players once again leading into 2026.
Adams and Nacua combined for over 2,500 receiving yards a season ago to along with 24 touchdowns. Matthew Stafford’s chemistry with both wideouts is elite, but the problem is a lack of depth behind them.
The current Rams depth chart boasts Jordan Whittington, Xavier Smith and Konata Mumpfield as WR alternatives for McVay’s offense. Meanwhile, none of those players are particularly battle-tested in NFL games.
