The third Diamond League meeting of the year heads to Morocco this weekend, where spectators will pack the Rabat Olympic Stadium for the circuit's only stop on the African continent.

Of the 14 Diamond League events on the schedule, the men's 800m has the makings of a world-leading caliber race.

Emanuel Wanyonyi enters as the defending Olympic and World champion, carrying a lifetime best of 1:41.11 that makes him the third-fastest performer in history over the distance.

The 21-year-old Kenyan hasn't raced the 800m since claiming his world title in Tokyo more than eight months ago, but he'll be surrounded by a field capable of pushing the pace from the gun.

Donovan Brazier (USA), Gabriel Tuah (FRA), Slimane Moula (ALG), Kethobogile Haingura (BOT), and Elliott Crestan (BEL) all bring recent race sharpness that Wanyonyi currently lacks.

Three men in the field have already broken 1:44 this season, including Crestan, Haingura, and Mark English (IRL).

Great Britain's Max Burgin, like Wanyonyi, is still waiting on his 2026 debut. His lifetime best stands at 1:42.29, set during a sixth-place finish at his Olympic debut in Tokyo last September.

If the race unfolds the way it has the potential to, Josh Hoey's world-leading 1:42.50 may not survive the weekend.
