Big changes could be coming to the Los Angeles Lakers this summer. They're projected to have roughly $50 million in salary cap space, and LeBron James could end up leaving the team. They're also expected to hire a number of people to important front-office positions, according to a recent report by Dan Woike of The Athletic.

The first change has apparently already come. With president of business operations Tim Harris set to leave after this season, the Lakers hired Lon Rosen, a former member of their front office who currently works for the Los Angeles Dodgers, to replace Harris. Rosen started out with the franchise in the 1980s and later served as Magic Johnson's longtime agent before the Dodgers brought him aboard.

He commented on what he will look to do in his new role with the Purple and Gold.

Via Lakers Nation:

“I’m beyond grateful to Jeanie [Buss] and Mark [Walter] for trusting me with this incredible opportunity,” said Rosen. “As everyone knows, the economics of the sports business are constantly changing – and they will continue to do so.

“But, at root, my job is a simple one: figuring out how to do right by our employees and our partners while ensuring that the Lakers continue to provide an unparalleled experience for our fans in Los Angeles and around the world. I look forward to working alongside Jeanie, Rob [Pelinka] and the whole front-office team to make that happen.”

Rosen's hire is being seen by some as a direct line to the Dodgers. Walter, who has owned the Dodgers since 2012, bought a majority share of the Lakers several months ago, and according to Woike's report, the team will look to model its front office after that of the Dodgers.

The Dodgers, of course, are the two-time defending World Series champions and have won three of the last six titles. Under Walter's leadership, they have become widely regarded as the model franchise in Major League Baseball.
