Jul. 17—It was a back-and-forth affair as the Glacier Twins blew an eight-run lead before coming back to defeat Libby 12-11 in the first game of a Legion baseball doubleheader Wednesday. In the second game, Libby used a hot start to take a 10-6 victory. In game one, Libby (12-16) took the lead in the bottom of the first thanks to a passed ball, but then the Twins (8-23) rattled off nine straight. In the third, singles from Derek Juntunen, Mason Muller and Travis Banks helped Glacier plate five. Then in the fourth, Trenton DeRosa scored two with a single to right and Muller added his second RBI single in as many innings as Glacier took a 9-1 advantage. Libby found some momentum as Boe Miles hit a two-run double that capped off a five-run fifth to make it 9-7. Ian Thom gave Libby the lead 10-9 in the sixth with a two-run sacrifice bunt. Glacier took the lead back in the seventh with two coming in on a passed ball with two outs. Libby got one run back in the bottom of the seventh, but Muller worked his way through the inning to finish the game. In game two, Miles singled in the bottom of the first to score a run as Libby jumped ahead 3-2. After two bases loaded walks and an error helped Libby extend the advantage to 6-3, Glacier pulled within one on a Kiernan RK single in the fifth at 6-5. The Loggers got an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth as Noah Gillespie flied to right and Dalton Cannon came in. Mason Crowe added a two-run single in the sixth to make it 10-5. The Loggers conclude the regular season this weekend at home with a pair of doubleheaders. Saturday, they host the Bitterroot Red Sox and Sunday, Missoula comes to town. Start times for both days are 1 p.m. The Loggers will compete in the West A district tournament July 23-26 in Hamilton. This weekend's games will determine Libby's seed and first-round opponent.
