GUYS MILLS — The Meadville boys volleyball team swept Maplewood 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-17) in a region match on Tuesday at Maplewood High School.

Luc Soerensen and Parker Gosnell had eight and six kills, respectively. Max Decker handed out 21 assists.

Meadville is 4-0 in the region and undefeated at 7-0 overall. The ‘Dogs host Conneaut today.

Maplewood dropped to 0-6 in region play and 1-8 overall. The Tigers play at Fort LeBoeuf on Thursday.

Maplewood’s Danny Mast has 12 assists, seven digs and two blocks. Logan Kier added five kills.

“Tonight the Maplewood Tigers punched up, rose to the occasion and gave 110 percent effort to compete with a truly all star team,” Maplewood head coach Calum Hyde said. “And Meadville did not let up which as the opposing coach I couldn’t have been happier about. There were true moments of brilliance in multiple long rally’s from both sides and you could feel from the vibe in the gym that despite being the underdogs maplewood wasn’t going down without a fight.”

Panthers sweep Orioles

ROCKY GROVE — Saegertown boys volleyball swept Rocky Grove 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-19) in a region match on Tuesday.

Jackson Scott dished 22 assists. Josh Weaver and Cru Scott added eight kills.

Saegertown is 9-1 overall and 5-0 in region action. The Panthers will host McDowell on Thursday.

On Monday, Saegertown defeated McDowell 3-1 (25-17, 18-25, 25-20, 25-18).

Bulldogs dominate at Erie

ERIE — The Meadville softball team beat Erie 19-5 in a Region 6 game on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs had 23 hits to Erie’s four. Raelyn Rusek, Kendall Mealy and Lila Kightlinger each had a home run. Mealy had five hits, Grace Curtiss and Teagan Reichel each had four.

Meadville moved to 3-6 overall and 2-6 in the region.

Blue Devils lead early

STONEBORO — Cambridge Springs scored five runs in the top of the first inning over Lakeview before a lightning-delay postponed the game.

Angela Hassinger had a two-run double, Aubrie Crawford had an RBI single and Jada Murawski followed with a two-run homer.

A date and time have not yet been set to resume the game.

Panthers blank Tigers

SAEGERTOWN — The Saegertown baseball team shutout Maplewood 3-0 in a Region 3 contest on Monday.

Blake Burchill fanned six and allowed five hits on the bump. Blake Leslie was 2-for-3 at the dish.

Saegertown is 9-1 overall and 7-0 in the region. The Panthers are scheduled to play at Rocky Grove today.

Maplewood is 7-5 overall and 4-4 in region play. The Tigers are slated to host Reynolds for a non-region game on Thursday.

Meadville falls to GM

EDINBORO — The Meadville baseball team lost to General McLane 14-4 on Monday in a Region 6 contest.

Henry DeSantis-Biggs was 2-for-4 for the ‘Dogs. Meadville fell to 4-7 overall and 3-5 in Region 6. The Bulldogs are scheduled to play at Cathedral Prep today.

Maplewood wins at home

GUYS MILLS — Maplewood softball beat Rocky Grove 3-1 in a Region 2 game on Monday.

Senior Rhinn Post tossed six strikeouts and allowed six hits. Post added a double and had two RBIs. Sophia Niebala and Brianna Kope each had two hits.

Maplewood is 3-4 overall and 3-3 in region action. The Tigers set to host Cochranton today.

Eagles top Bulldogs

LINESVILLE — The Conneaut girls lacrosse team defeated Meadville 17-4 on Monday at Conneaut Area Senior High School.

Conneaut’s Paige Davis and Haylee Morini each scored three goals. Lana Johnston and Debella Durkin added two goals apiece. Payton Luce, Kaylee Greely, Lilly Detelich, Camille Turner, Maya Bill and Mickey Bernhardt each scored once.

Beavers too much for Eagles

Conneaut lost to Corry 9-3 in a Region 5 baseball game at Corry High School on Tuesday.

Ashton Headley was 2-for-4 with a home run. Chase Stewart and Lucas Aldrich each added two hits.

Conneaut fell to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in region play. The Eagles are scheduled to play at North East today in another region game.

Ramblers mercy-rule Conneaut

ERIE — Cathedral Prep beat Conneaut 12-0 in a Region 4 softball contest on Monday.

Conneaut got one hit, from Hailey Gilliland. The Eagles are 0-11 and 0-7 in Region 4. Conneaut is scheduled to host North East today at 4 p.m.
