Live updates and score for Texas UIL softball semifinal between Midway and Flower Mound originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Texas UIL softball playoffs have reached the semifinals, and the Lone Star State has its share of top-ranked contenders battling for a shot at the national title.
Three Texas teams, in fact, occupy the No. 2-4 slots in the latest edition of the MaxPreps national rankings. That includes the No. 2 Lake Creek [Montgomery] Lions, No. 3 Melissa Cardinals, and No. 4 Barbers Hill [Mt. Belvieu] Eagles. Just a few slots back are the Midway [Waco] Panthers, sitting in the No. 10 position.
Midway might be too far back to make a late run at the national title with so many teams in front of them, and they enter game two of their best-of three series against the Flower Mound Jaguars in a 1-0 hold. They'll have to win the final two games of the series to advance to next week's UIL Class 6A Division I state championship series.
Game time for the second game is set for 7 p.m. EST/6 p.m. CST local.
