After trading away defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, we knew the New York Giants were under pressure to win with this No. 10 overall pick. After adding a truly elite playmaker in LB Arvell Reeese at No. 5, the Giants turned to the trenches and selected Miami offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa.
Mauigoa is only 20 years old and, despite limited experience, might have the highest ceiling of any offensive lineman in the draft. He's a powerful mauler and has plenty of room to grow into his frame. He's a smart football player and a hard worker who is only going to improve with NFL-caliber coaching.
We had Mauigoa as our No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 3 overall offensive lineman in the draft. This draft class took some heat in the offseason but we are seeing the NFL views this group very differently.
