With a new head coach incoming for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team's three coordinators could all be on the hunt for employment sooner rather than later. We are rooting for special teams coordinator Danny Smith to be retained by the new head coach but offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and defensive coordinator Teryl Austin could both be out of work.

Smith has gotten some attention from teams searching for a head coach and now he's been requested to interview for the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator vacancy. This is in addition to interview requests from the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans to be their head coach. On the other side of this, Steelers team President Art Rooney II has said there are no head coach candidates on the current staff, which includes Smith.

Smith proved his worth as the offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans which he turned into a head coaching gig with the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons fired Smith after two seasons and while he struggled as a head coach, he was definitely an upgrade for the Steelers offense in 2025.
