Allen Park — As the Detroit Lions practiced Sunday, star running back Jahmyr Gibbs was present, watching the action from the sidelines.

Gibbs, who is eligible for a contract extension and appears to be holding in, declined to speak with reporters as practice ended and players made their way back into the Meijer Performance Center. It's the first time this summer Gibbs was spotted at a training camp practice.

Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown on Thursday said Gibbs was "still at all the meetings and stuff," and a photo galley of players arriving to Allen Park for training camp posted by the Lions on July 28 included a picture of Gibbs.

Gibbs, one of the NFL's most electric playmakers, has 5,029 yards from scrimmage and 49 total touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2023.

"Listen, I'll just leave it at this: You guys know how I feel — how we feel — about Gibbs, and what the team feels about him, and I'll leave it at that," Lions coach Dan Campbell said Thursday, when asked about Gibbs being absent from practice. "Listen, all the other stuff — my job is to coach who's out there right now. And I love the kid, but man, I’ve got a team to coach right now. ... It'll get done, it's going to get done. I'm not even sweating it."

Campbell went on to say he wasn't sure if Gibbs would return to practice without an extension. He also mentioned "a little bit of a back" injury Gibbs was dealing with, but later assured, "I don't think it's severe."
