What's your point? Oh wait, I guess you're STILL trying to push the angle that Kyler Murray is actually great and it's Kingsbury and Petzing's faults that his brilliance failed to shine.

BPB is horrific when the game is close and on the line. He looks like a great OC when he’s down 20 pts and the defense is playing soft zone to keep things in front of him.

There isn’t a single fan on this board that thought BPB was some kind of wonder coach. Total media drivel so they can have inside info next season.

Campbell goes for it on 4th down a LOT. Even by the new standards of going for it. And Petzing was terrible on play calls on 4th and short and 3rd and short. He never seemed to figure it out, but was just fishing around for something that might work.

Interesting tidbits from The Athletic's "Lions Mailbag" from a couple days ago, regarding the Lions' hire of Petzing:

• Petzing is a Kevin Stefanski guy. That means he values the under-center dropback game, play-action and rhythm-based offenses. The Lions didn’t land Stefanski, but they did land one of his pupils. This is what Dan Campbell wants his offense to look like, and it’s easy to see the vision. The hope is that, because Jared Goff is a better stylistic fit than Kyler Murray, it can work here. He’ll also have Campbell guiding him.

• He landed on The Athletic’s 50 under 40 list in 2025 and earned a head-coaching interview with the Bears last year. People around the league think he’s an intelligent mind and did what he could with a QB who didn’t fit his system.

• The Cardinals were a top-10 rushing offense in 2023 and 2024, doing it with an average offensive line and James Conner at ages 28 and 29. Cowboys OC Klayton Adams (formerly Petzing’s run-game coordinator/offensive line coach) was a big part of that, but Petzing worked with Lions OL coach/run-game coordinator Hank Fraley in Minnesota. They speak the same language.

In hindsight, maybe Petzing wasn’t the right fit in Arizona. I understand why he took the job — he had a relationship with Jonathan Gannon and it was a promotion — but his offense is more conducive to a QB like Kirk Cousins and Goff than it is for a shotgun QB like Murray. There are only 32 of these jobs, so I get the appeal, but man, I think he would’ve been better off sticking with Stefanski and waiting for a better opportunity. He has that now in Detroit.

Seems as though either Gannon chose the wrong O.C. for Murray, or that Gannon and Petzing thought that Murray would be more successful in a traditional offense - until it was obvious that he couldn't exploit a rhythm-based offense while also not being able to throw over the middle, and he turned into a checkdown Charlie.

It will be interesting to see whether Petzing is successful with Detroit.

It also seems likely that LaFleur has seen enough to know that Murray won't work in his system.

You do realize that Philly fans are morons…..right? That Philly D had 70 sacks the year they lost to KC in the SB. If you can get home with 4, which they did 70 times, then you definitely do not blitz. His D in the playoffs that year was as dominant as a D can be. KC’s points in that SB wasn’t all on the D. Chiefs returned a Hurts fumble for a TD, and KC also returned a punt down to the 4 late in the game. And, as everyone is well aware, the zebras blessed the Chiefs with a handful of calls in the 2nd half of that game too.

Two things can be true at once PA. While eagles fans (not Philly fans. LMAO) are ridiculously focused on the wrong thing at time, Gannon did NOT have his finest moment in that SB. If we're going to pound him as a HC that refused to make adjustments, then the same is deserved for his lack of adaptability in the SB. Didn't help perception that he was already Googling places to eat in Arizona before the SB kickoff. I agree with you that there were other factors that contributed to that L, but I'm not mad at these doofuses for being glad he left.

The Detroit Lions are signing a familiar face for first-year offensive coordinator Drew Petzing.

Petzing, who was hired to replace John Morton, will be reunited with former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Greg Dortch, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.

Dortch, 27, caught 29 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns last season in Arizona. In his six-year NFL career, the 5-foot-7, 180-pound receiver has reeled in 145 catches for 1,310 yards and 10 touchdowns. Dortch spent the past three seasons with Petzing as his OC in Arizona, so he will bring an understanding of what Petzing wants to the Motor City.

Knowing LaFleur's background, I'd bet that the difference between Bourne and Dortch that he really cares about is whether they can block. Bourne isn't great, but he understands the WR blocking schemes, while Dortch is probably smaller than my mom LOL.
