Lions duo exit Friday practice to be evaluated for potential injuries

A pair of Detroit Lions left training camp practice early on Friday to be evaluated for potential injuries.

According to Tim Twentyman, DetroitLions.com's senior writer and insider, Lions defensive tackle Alim McNeill and linebacker Jimmy Rolder both left practice early on Friday to be evaluated for potential injuries.

McNeill, 26, played in and started 10 games last season for the Lions as he returned from injury, totaling 14 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and one pass defended. The NC State product had five sacks in 2023 and registered seven tackles for loss in 2024 before suffering a torn ACL in December of 2024.

McNeill made his return in Week 7 last season on Oct. 20.

Rolder is a rookie that the Lions selected in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Rolder totaled 118 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, and one interception throughout his collegiate career with the Michigan Wolverines. The 6-foot-2, 238-pound linebacker led Michigan with 73 tackles last season.

Rolder added seven tackles for loss, two pass breakups, two sacks, and one interception last season at Michigan.
