Allen Park — Tom Kennedy is back with the only NFL team he's ever played for.
Kennedy, a former undrafted free agent who has been with the Detroit Lions in some capacity every season since 2019, re-signed with the team Thursday. With former left tackle Taylor Decker released earlier this month, Kennedy is now the longest-tenured member of the Lions. He's followed by punter Jack Fox and quarterback Jared Goff.
Over his seven seasons in Detroit, Kennedy has caught 18 of his 30 targets for 231 yards, including four catches for 36 yards against the Green Bay Packers last Thanksgiving. Kennedy carved out a nice role for himself toward the end of 2025, returning 16 kickoffs for 447 yards after Week 11. He also had three punt returns for 50 yards.
Kennedy is a former football and lacrosse player at Bryant. His most productive season as a receiver in college came in 2017, when he caught 57 passes for 888 yards and nine touchdowns. His single-game high while in the NFL (54 yards) came against the Seattle Seahawks in October 2022. He also threw a touchdown pass on a trick play that season, finding Kalif Raymond for a 75-yard score.
