Lionel Messi pulled off the best assist of the MLS season on Sunday.
On Monday, a rumor emerged that Messi will be missing out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup with defending champion Argentina.
Could that possibly be true?
It's not, to be clear. Argentina hasn't announced its squad yet, but when the team is announced, it's widely believed Messi will be a key part of it.
This is the post that went viral, with about four million views after 12 hours, that fooled fans across the world:

The reality is that Messi is still near the top of his game. He was brilliant to lead Argentina to hoisting the 2022 World Cup.
Now, he's dealing for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
Just check out this run and pass provided by Messi on Sunday:
