Lindsey Vonn gave fans an emotional look at her road to recovery over the weekend — while also mourning the heartbreaking loss of her beloved dog, Leo.
The Olympic gold medalist, 41, took to Instagram on Sunday, March 1, revealing she was finally back home after undergoing multiple surgeries to repair injuries she sustained in Italy during the 2026 Winter Olympics. The alpine ski champion didn’t sugarcoat the moment, admitting that returning home came with a painful reminder of what — and who — was missing.
In the snaps, Vonn lounged on a light beige couch with sun streaming through towering windows behind her. She kept things cozy in a monochromatic deep red lounge set, pairing an oversized sweatshirt with matching shorts and gray knee-high compression socks. Medical bandages were visibly taped to her knee and upper thigh, underscoring the grueling rehab ahead.

Nestled in her arms was her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chance, who sweetly licked her face in one photo as she smiled through it. In another, she gazed down at the pup tenderly — a bittersweet moment as she opened up about the immense loss of Leo, the shelter dog she adopted in 2014, who tragically passed away just one day after her crash at the Milan Cortina Winter Games.
“Home sweet home. Feels good to sleep in my own bed… but wheeling through the front door without Leo greeting me like always was a very hard reality,” she wrote, adding that therapy and “getting healthy” were now her top priorities. “I’m going to take some time for myself,” she shared.
Fans quickly flooded the comments with red heart emojis
