Lexi Thompson failed to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open earlier this month, missing the major for the first time since 2007. Now the 31-year-old also will be absent from the LPGA’s latest major, this week’s KPMG Women’s PGA at Hazeltine National in Minnesota, withdrawing late Sunday.
The PGA of America did not cite a specific reason, but Thompson pulled out of the Meijer LPGA Classic last week due to hip pain. “It’s hard to put into words how disappointed I am to have had to withdraw from this week,” Thompson posted on Instagram regarding the Meijer event.
The 11-time LPGA winner plays a limited schedule on our, having made just six starts in 2026. Her best finish of the year was at the LPGA’s first major, the Chevron Championship, in which she finished tied for 12th.
This would have been Thompson’s 16th straight start in the KPMG Women’s PGA. She has made the cut in the event every year save for her debut in 2011, with four top-10 showings. A year ago at PGA Frisco, she finished T-12.
