Bayer Leverkusen hope for another strong showing againsat Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Saturday after almost claiming victory against Arsenal in the Champions League.
"We can cause problems for Bayern as well with a top performance like against Arsenal," coach Kasper Hjulmand told reporters on Friday.
Leverkusen led against Arsenal in their last 16 first leg match on Wednesday until the 89th minute before former Leverkusen player Kai Havertz salavaged a 1-1 draw from the spot for the Premier League leaders.
“We can take something from the Arsenal game into the Bayern game. We need to press with great precision and maintain the same level of organisation in our defensive work as we do when we have the ball," Hjulmand said.
Bayer are without influential Alejandro Grimaldo due to suspension but striker Patrik Schick could start again after missing the last three games with muscular problems. Forward Nathan Tella returns into the squad after being sidelined for two months.
Leverkusen have lost the last three matches against Bayern without scoring a goal, after going unbeaten against them in the previous six encounters.
The hosts in sixth place want full points against the runaway leaders from Munich in their bid for a top four finish and to boost morale for Tuesday's return leg in London against Arsenal.
"For us, there is nothing better than playing against the best teams," Hjulmand said.
