During his introductory press conference, Leo Chenal was asked about the decision to sign with the Washington Commanders. He revealed that former Kansas City Chiefs teammates played a role in his offseason signing.

"Heard great things, especially about the coaching staff from former teammates, "said Chenal. "Guys are excited here; guys are excited. Guys are loving football here. I really haven't heard a bad thing about the culture that they're building here, that we're building here."

Chenal confirmed that former Chiefs offensive linemen Andrew Wylie and Nick Allegretti were the players he was in contact with from Washington. "It's nice having these resources," said Chenal, who becomes the latest Kansas City player to head to the nation's capital, along with the recently signed Charles Omenihu.

In 4 seasons with the Chiefs, Chenal contributed to 3 Super Bowl runs. The 2022 third-round pick (No. 103 overall) out of Wisconsin played in all 17 games in 2025, finishing with 60 tackles, a sack, and four tackles for loss.
