Legacy Motor Club will have a third NASCAR Cup Series entry for the 2027 season. The NASCAR organization has acquired a third charter, meaning another driver will join Erik Jones (No. 43 car) and John Hunter Nemechek (No. 42). Now, Legacy Motor Club owner Jimmie Johnson has revealed the car number for the third chartered entry.

Starting in 2027, Legacy Motor Club will use the No. 84 car as its third full-time chartered entry in the Cup Series, Johnson announced on Stacking Pennies. The seven-time Cup Series champion has driven the No. 84 car in his select NASCAR starts, but he will run the No. 13 car for Legacy Motor Club in the 2027 Daytona 500.

The No. 84 was a popular choice, as Legacy Motor Club has run the number in the past. However, the No. 44 car would have made sense if NY Racing Team didn't have the rights. While Johnson will run the No. 13 car in the 2027 Daytona 500, a third full-time driver will be piloting the No. 84 car next season.
