Lazio Given a Transfer Dilemma as Napoli Launch Mario Gila Onslaught
While several sources in the Italian media agree that Napoli are keen to sign Mario Gila, Lazio’s stance remains a topic of debate.

The 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Italian top flight, thus gaining himself a host of suitors in Serie A and abroad. But in recent days, Napoli have emerged as his keenest admirer, especially after choosing Massimiliano Allegri as their next head coach.
The Livorno native was already plotting with Igli Tare to bring Gila to AC Milan, but they were both sacked at the end of the season, as the club failed to secure a spot in the next edition of the Champions League.
Napoli Pushing for Mario Gila
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli are pushing to sign the Spanish defender, but Lazio are refusing to sell, even though the player is running on an expiring contract.
The Biancocelesti will have to share the transfer fee with Gila’s former employers, Real Madrid, who retained a 50% sell-on clause, so Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani could be inclined to keep the Barcelona native, who only earns €1 million per season.
Are Lazio Willing to Drop Their Asking Price?
Alfredo Pedulla also reports that the Partenopei have accelerated their attempts to sign Gila, but unlike Di Marzio, he believes that Lazio are considering a sale. The Aquile have set their asking price at €30 million, but they could eventually accept selling the defender for €20 million to avoid losing him for free in 2027.
The Italian journalist also reveals interest from Atletico Madrid, but believes Napoli remain in the driver’s seat. Gila’s Argentine agent, Alejandro Camano, had also expressed his desire to bring his client to the Stadio Maradona one day.
