The NASCAR Truck Series competed in San Diego, and it was a thrilling event. Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson led the race; however, he wasn't able to pull through after multiple issues late in the event. Instead, it was a Front Row Motorsports driver who stole the show.
Layne Riggs and the No. 34 team for Front Row Motorsports won Friday evening's event in San Diego, earning their fourth victory of the 2026 Truck Series season. Riggs was able to pass Tyler Reif in the closing moments, as the No. 42 truck overdrove the chicane, resulting in a required stop-and-go penalty.
Reif was so close to earning his first career NASCAR win, but Riggs was able to pull through for the victory. The driver of the No. 34 truck has won three of the last four races as he continues to stretch his points lead. Now, Riggs will hope to carry his momentum to Lime Rock Park in a few weeks.
