mdamien13...yea..and he wanted the big money contract...In hindsight - he did get a big money contract. The $3.3 million we gave him(or whatever amount) in the year we franchised him in reality should have been 3 years for $3 million total ($ 1mil per year). Kwamie was lucky - he got it all in one year instead of 3... I think the chargers paid him the minimum one year after we franchised him - and they were pretty much the only takers.

Kwamie suffered from an early undiagnosed case of "Martayitis"

barrett is showing early symptons of the same disease.

And he rejected a big offer from us to before we franchised him if I recall.

I like Kwamie, always did, never forget the game against San Diego where he basically single handedly put us in the playoffs with some late help from Metcalf and jake on the last drive to set up Jacke's FG.

Very common problem, players have success and always assume the market is higher than it really is.

yea russ.. I hear ya..it is hard to rag on the guy who gave me my one year of cardinal happiness:D

Also..I met his wife (who used to post here) at training camp and she was a very nice lady ....she had the guts to post on here - which is saying something!

He just way overestimated his worth the last couple of years (he did resign once on his own after the 98 season - he could have left then)...

This reminds me...what happened to michael stone's sister? She came on here because she was so mad that everyone was ragging on here brother all of the time:D

That sucks for Kwamie. He has been very durable throughout his career. My pops said that in his 37 years of being an NFL Trainer, Kwamie was one of the toughest players he has ever seen. That is saying something.
