This is not a statement geared towards ASFN.

You would think history would get a little more ink on a Monday morning.

The man is #3 on the receptions list, and if you start looking that the names, and the age those names retired at of the men in front of him, you will realize how important of a moment yesterday was.

Fitzgerald is one of the best ever. I say he is the greatest possession receiver to ever play the game.

Not to mention Fitzgerald also is in the top 10 for receiving yards as well.

It deserves its own thread, and deserves a hell of a lot more ink than it is getting. To risk hyperbole, it is a telling tale of current sports reporting. Tabloids and special interest stories over actual sports. Blegh.

If the Cardinals were relevant... if they had been able to follow up last year with another double-digit win season and made the playoffs, believe me - Fitz would be getting his props across the country. However, as has been the case virtually his entire career, Larry is left to wallow in sucktitude or medioctrity, while the Pats & Brady, Carroll and Wilson and Ben and the Steelers grab most of the top-billing...
And ya know what - it doesn't bother Larry in the least... which is why I love the guy even more.

It's been a pleasure watching him play. Even at this age he just does next level stuff.

Back when I so had a ST split and he would be in his superstar prime I remember going to preseason games and be a little mystified about why he would be in the game at times as it progresses. Then he'd completely sell out on a block to help make a guy fighting for a roster spot look good.

Just an absolute professional and probably more appreciated league wide than many here realize

He's spoiled us for so long we're just used to it. There's far more John Browns and Michael Floyd's than Larry Fitzgerald's.

True, and come to think of it, I didn't remember Marvin Harrison being in the news when he made the same accomplishment. I guess if it isn't a quarterback these days, no one cares.

Sidenote: Professional football is starting to become too much reality TV and not enough sports.

Randy Moss, who knows a thing or two about catching footballs, gave Larry some major props before the Monday night game. He said the usual "future HoF" stuff then said the Cards should just start working on the statue of Larry to put outside the stadium.

Heard a crazy stat today about Larry... For the first time in his career, he has record double-digit receptions in 3 different games this season - his 13th!!!
Also, after 12 games this season, he is presently tied for the NFL lead in receptions! Incredible...

What's most impressive is that most of Larry's catches aren't flashy (i.e. where he beats his man deep or makes the amazing leaping one-handed catch). - They're often "dirty work" off short slants with the game on the line - needed to get us out of horrible field position or pick up a crucial 1st down.

The stats are just numbers - symbols of the amazing things He does "in real time" on the football field.

(& he's not a bad guy away from the field either).

I 100% agree.

Now while Fitzgerald has had some Sportscenter-fantastical-super-duper catches over the years.

He also has, easily 20 catches a season, that only Cardinals fans get to see that are INCREDIBLE yet are for 20 yards or less. Some of his best diving and one-handed catches are off quick slants or quick outs. Balls that have no business being caught at all.

I still remember the Christmas game vs. the Cowboys a few years back with John Skelton at QB. Fitzgerald made 3 incredible catches in a row to setup the game winning field goal. Just sick catches, one after another.

Or that dump off pass earlier this year that he caught, that was thrown WAY too hard, when Fitzgerald was WAY to close, and Fitz had 1/1000000 of second to react to it, and caught the back end of the ball. BEASTLY.

He consistently does it, year in, and year out. That is why he is great, that is why he is Larry Legend.

Larry Fitzgerald sucks. All he does is catch EVERYTHING.

FTFY

I love how hard he plays.

I love how tough he is.

I love how team oriented he is.

I love his sense of humor.

I love how great his hands are.

I love how he rises to the occasion at the right time all the time.

I love how he celebrates more when a teammate scores than he does his own TD's.

I love that he is a Cardinal and always will be.

The duo of him and Q are one of the best receiving combos in history. Because of these 2, Breaston was able to have a 1,000 yard season.
