Lane Kiffin Sends Clear Message on Jaxson Dart's Giants Fit

Lane Kiffin made one of his smartest moves as a college head coach when he convinced quarterback Jaxson Dart to transfer to Ole Miss before the 2022 season. What followed was 27 wins in three seasons, including two campaigns of 10 or more victories and a school record 11 wins in 2023.

Not only did Dart blossom into one of the best players in the entire country, but he and Kiffin became inseparable both on and off the football field. Throughout the pre-draft process, Kiffin was his biggest supporter, and both of their dreams came true when Dart was selected in the first round by the New York Giants.

The Giants traded back into the first round of this year's draft to snag Dart, which indicated how strongly they felt about him as a prospect. Kiffin spoke to Steve Serby of the New York Post earlier this week about how he feels Dart fits in New York.

"I talked to Jaxson yesterday," said Kiffin. "He said (Giants head coach) Brian (Daboll)'s been calling him 10 times a day, and when he went there to New York, he felt really good about their interaction there together, too."

Most Ole Miss fans remember what happened the last time a former Rebel ended up with the Giants on draft night. Eli Manning became a legendary figure in New York, winning two Super Bowls and setting numerous franchise records.

While Manning did not make the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first go-around last year, he'll surely end up there one day. Dart has big shoes to fill if he wants to live up to what Manning did in the NFL, but the good news is that his college coach believes he is in the right place to do it.
