OXFORD — Ole Miss football's running back room got a veteran boost from the transfer portal in preparation for next season.

The Rebels landed Troy running back Damien Taylor on April 20. He is a 5-foot-10, 221-pound player who will be a redshirt senior at Ole Miss. He is from Northport, Alabama, and has spent four years at Troy.

Taylor is coming off a fantastic season, rushing for 1,010 yards and seven touchdowns, and was named to the All-Sun Belt second team. He topped 100 rushing yards in four games last season and racked up 190 yards against Coastal Carolina.

Taylor excelled at breaking off big plays last season. He had 11 rushes of 20-plus yards, which was No. 18 nationally, and rushes of 40-plus yards in three games.

Running back is a bit of a question mark for coach Lane Kiffin and the Rebels entering 2025. Taylor will compete with a talented but largely unproven group of backs, including Logan Diggs, Missouri transfer Kewan Lacy and incoming freshman Shekai Mills-Knight.
