Lamine Yamal has reacted to Spain’s World Cup draw with Cape Verde on Monday that saw the Barcelona star make his return from injury.
The teenager played the last 19 minutes of the game and looked lively on his first appearance since April. Although the game ended in disappointment for Spain, Yamal is staying calm.
“First game of the World Cup and we add a point. We know that this is a long competition and that the goal is still far away, but we’ll keep working and everything will turn out as we hope, no doubt about it,” he posted on Instagram.
“I want to thank God for allowing me to play again after the injury, and also to my family for always being by my side, supporting and accompanying me every step of the way.”
Spain and Yamal will now switch focus to facing Saudi Arabia on Sunday. Saudi Arabia opened up their tournament with a draw against Uruguay, meaning all four teams in Group H have a point after the first round of matches.
