it's against your nature to forget something that was never proven in a court of law, or didn't even GO TO TRIAL? Am I to assume it's also not in your nature to believe in the guiding principle of this country which is innocent until proven guilty? EVERYTHING we heard was hearsay, rumors and innuendo, not a word of which was ever substantiated either way. But, yeah, I could see how that could stick in your head.
To keep calling him a rapist just reflects poorly on Suns fans IMO.

Cheese, you and others saw the apology. I don't know why we have to rehash this over and over. It was clear that she did not consent to what happened between them. It was also clear that his apology couldn't be used against him in a court of law.... that was part of the "Out-of-Court" SETTLEMENT... which, I know and you know, consisted of some good $$.
If I am innocent and you are innocent - we scream from the rooftops - "BRING IT ON CHICK, I DIDN’T DO A THING TO YOU AGAINST YOUR WILL." Someone with a guilty conscience settles out-of-court… The only exception to that rule is someone who felt that their image might be damaged if they didn’t settle, thus they can keep the whole thing out of the public eye… well, we know that wasn’t the case here, since everyone and their Uncle already knew about it.
By the way, I don't call him a rapist because I am Suns fan... Again, if it bothers you that I think this way, my apologies. I don't let it bother me that you DON'T call him a rapist.

"Crowd" is different then saying a few of the fans. "Loud" would indicate a majority of the fans. So when I rewatched it, it didn't appear LOUD to me. I agree that 1000 fans can have big mouths (Cards fans a great example) but it wasn't loud by any stretch. The point being that people are making a mountain out of a mole hill.
We also know that despite the founding principles of our legal system it's riddled with holes and flaws that let guilty people walk all the time based on technicalities, political pressures, media scrutiny, lack of cooperation with prosecution and down right shady lawyer tactics. His lack of prosecution does nothing in terms of determining his actual guilt. Ask OJ.
I agree that the entire calling him a rapist thing is getting old. Then again, I still find the occasional indirect joke still amusing.

Or if they want to put the matter to rest and avoid further humiliation for themselves and their family. Whatever the amount of the settlement was, it was a trivial price to pay for peace of mind. Just look at the Duke lacrosse team (?) case: defending yourself against baseless accusations can be harrowing, exhausting, damaging business.

The problem
Yeah, people just pay up for parking/speeding tickets all the time that they believe they were innocent for. Hell, I was accused of being in a bar fight that I had no part of whatsoever a few years back and plead guilty and paid the few hundred bucks in classes rather than dishing out 3k in attorney's fees and missing countless hours of work going to trial. Taking the easy route is always done in criminal trials especially among African-Americans and those with low income.
Any by the way - there's just as much evidence Kobe raped that chick as there was in that Ceballos/Barkley/Oliver Miller fiasco a while back and I don't hear anyone referring to those guys as "rapists" every time they're mentioned on the board. Calling a guy a rapist although never convicted let alone go to trial as such along with cheering injuries is classless. Period.
Don't mean to hijack the rape talk, but I was curious if anyone saw the Kevin Ray interview of David Griffin and Barbosa's borther on the local feed? I just thought it was funny when Ray asked Arturo some 5 part question that was barely audible over the crowd. I thought for sure he'd be fluent in english for Ray to ask that type of question but he didn't understand a word he said.
