AK Okereke has come a long way.

His first college basketball season was at Cornell in the Ivy League, and he averaged just 0.5 points per game.

On Wednesday night, he reportedly signed as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Lakers.

That's quite the rise.

Undrafted Vanderbilt forward AK Okereke has agreed to a two-way NBA deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell ESPN.

Okereke raised his numbers in years two and three with the Big Red.

In 2024-25, he put up 13.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.

That earned him a transfer to the SEC and Vanderbilt University.

In his lone season with the Commodores, Okereke averaged 9.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.6 blocks per game.

At 6-foot-7, maybe the most important thing he did was add 3-point shooting.

With Vandy, Okereke shot 40.0% from 3-point range.

If he can do that in the NBA, while using his strength and skillset to contribute around the floor, he has at least a chance to make an impact in the league down the road.
