Bridge players from across the region will have the opportunity to compete for Gold MasterPoints this fall as the Acadiana Duplicate Bridge Club (ADBC) hosts its 13th annual Fleur de Lis Gold Rush 750 Regional Tournament.
The three-day tournament will be Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 at the ADBC clubhouse, 4950 W. Congress St. in Lafayette, and marks a major change for the annual event. Formerly known as the Fleur de Lis Tournament, this year’s competition has been elevated to a Gold Rush Tournament, opening the event to players with fewer than 750 American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) MasterPoints.
Tournament Chair Jean Kiesel said the event provides an important opportunity for advancing players to compete locally while working toward higher ACBL rankings.
“This is a great opportunity for those who are within driving distance to be able to earn Gold MasterPoints in order to advance their ranking through ACBL towards becoming a Life Master,” Kiesel said.
The tournament will feature two pairs games each day, beginning at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Players may enter single sessions, but competitors must participate in two sessions on the same day to qualify for Gold MasterPoints.
In addition to tournament play, attendees will receive complimentary lunch between sessions, along with free beverages and snacks throughout the event. Section winners will receive prizes, and overall winners will be recognized with trophies.
ADBC Board of Directors President Miles Duthile said the club is excited to bring the regional tournament back to Lafayette and welcome bridge players from across the area.
“We are very proud to be able to host this Regional Gold Rush Tournament and to welcome visitors to Lafayette,” Duthile said.
