Missouri (28-28, 9-15 SEC) defeated No. 8 Tennessee (42-9, 16-8 SEC), 4-3, on Saturday at Mizzou Softball Stadium in Columbia, Missouri. The contest was a regular-season finale for both schools.
The Lady Vols led, 1-0, in the first inning after Gabby Leach hit a RBI double that scored Ella Dodge, who walked to lead off the game.
Tennessee extended its advantage to, 2-0, in the fourth inning after Elsa Morrison hit a solo home run.
The Tigers pulled to within, 2-1, during the fourth inning when Linny Ramsey scored on a wild pitch. Missouri tied the game in the fifth inning after Abby Hay hit a solo home run.
Tennessee led, 3-2, in the sixth inning after Sophia Knight hit a RBI single.
Missouri led, 4-3, in the sixth inning after Abby Carr hit a scoring single to tie the game. A go-ahead run scored when the Lady Vols committed an error on the play.
Erin Nuwer started for Tennessee. She pitched three innings and allowed one run, five hits and three walks. Nuwer recorded four strikeouts, while totaling 65 pitches, including 34 strikes.
Karlyn Pickens (13-7) recorded a loss for Tennessee. She pitched one inning, allowing two unearned runs and two hits. Pickens recorded one strikeout, while totaling 27 pitches, including 18 strikes. Sage Mardjetko also appeared in relief for the Lady Vols.
