The Lady Pirates traveled to Columbus East Saturday for a doubleheader with the Lady Olympians. Greensburg won the opener 9-4 and the home team took the second game 4-0.
Harper Adams got the win in the circle in the first game. She pitched 7.0 innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out 12.
Offensively, Greensburg had 13 hits in the opener. Adams, Addyson Dolan (double) and Layla Murray (double) all had three hits in the game. Kirkley Lowe had a pair of singles. Tinley Klene homered in the first inning and drove in three Lady Pirates’ runs. Kamryn Haas added a single and RBI. Murray had two RBIs. Aubrie Barnes-Pettit and Emma McQueen both finished with one RBI.
Columbus East scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to win the second game 4-0.
Adams pitched two innings for Greensburg, allowing no runs on three hits and no walks while striking out four. Murray pitched four innings, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four.
McQueen, Adams and Klene all had one hit for the Lady Pirates.
{span style=”font-size: 1.17em;”}South Decatur 19, South Ripley 4{/span}The Lady Cougars picked up win No. 1 on the young season at South Ripley Saturday. South used a 10-run third inning en route to a 19-4 victory over the Lady Raiders.
After two scoreless innings, South’s Dalilah Martin’s single turned into a 3-base error to put the first run on the board. After back-to-back walks, Lydia Witkemper drove in two runs and the flood gates opened. South added six runs in the top of the fourth inning and three in the top of the fifth inning in the win.
Offensively, South had 16 hits. Riley Benge, Witkemper and Dalilah Martin (double) all had three hits. Witkemper and Carly Shook shared team-high honors with three RBIs each. Riley Benge and Daisy Martin both drove in two runs. Shook (double), Raegan Benge and Daisy Martin all had two hits. Lilly Martin had an inside the park home run. Delaney Caplinger scored two runs. Maddie Shireman scored one run.
In the circle, Riley Benge pitched 4.0 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five. Dalilah Martin pitched 1.0 inning, allowing one run on one hit.
North Decatur 17, Morristown 2
The Lady Chargers made it a sweep of Morristown with a 17-2 victory Friday. North improves to 2-1 on the season.
North scored in each of the first four innings – four runs in the first, nine in the second, one in the third and three in the fourth.
Brooklyn White had a big day for the Lady Chargers. At the dish, White drove in five runs on a pair of singles and a home run. White also pitched all five innings, allowing no earned runs on two hits and six walks while striking out seven.
The Lady Chargers had 13 hits. Madison Rohls finished with a single, a double and three RBIs. Kendall Hostkoetter tallied two singles, a double and one RBI. Brynlee Green, Elizabeth Meister (RBI), Libby Crawford (RBI), Carmen Thackery and Ally Whitaker all had a single. Mia Stier added an RBI.
Milan 8, South Decatur 1
Milan’s Kynadee Bode had a huge game Friday at South Decatur. The junior pitcher tossed seven innings, allowing no earned runs on two hits and one walk while striking out 17. At the plate, Bode singled, tripled and drove in three runs as the Lady Indians posted the 8-1 win.
South Decatur’s Raegan Benge and Riley Benge both had a single for South. Riley scored the lone run for South and pitched seven innings, allowing eight runs on 10 hits while striking out eight.
Batesville 10, South Ripley 0
The Batesville softball team posted a 10-0 win at home against South Ripley. The Lady Bulldogs were led at the plate by Caitlyn Fox with four hits. She singled in the first, second, third and fifth innings. Fox also scored a team-high three runs.
Grace Copley had two hits and four RBIs in the victory. Copley also got the win in the circle, pitching five innings with one hit and 10 strike outs. Cora Roth, Payton Yorn, Lucie Cregar and Libby Stephens each had one hit.
Lawrenceburg 18, Rushville 10; Lawrenceburg 11, Rushville 1
The Lady Lions traveled to Lawrenceburg Saturday for a doubleheader with the Lady Tigers. The Lady Lions led 9-6 in the top of the fifth inning, but Lawrenceburg scored seven runs in the bottom of the inning and five in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the first game 18-10.
Rushville’s Macy Blevins and Becca Tabeling (double) both had three hits in the game. Kyleigh Glandon (double) and Ella Bowles both had two hits. Makenna Ripberger added a triple. Stacy Roberts, Layla Shepherdson, Penelope Davis Audrey Angle all had one hit. Blevins, Tabeling and Ripberger shared team-high honors with two RBIs each.
Kiarra Flannery and Tabeling pitched for Rushville.
In the second game, Lawrenceburg scored at least one run each of the five innings to post the 11-1 victory.
Rhianna Hedrick pitched for Rushville, allowing five earned runs on 13 hits and four walks while striking out two.
Glandon, Tabeling and Eliza Snow all had a hit. Ripberger had the only RBI.
