Greensburg hosted South Dearborn Saturday in an EIAC battle on the softball diamond. The Lady Knights struck first with a run in the top of the first inning, but that was all for the visitors as Greensburg scored 11 unanswered runs to post the 11-1 victory.
Greensburg answered the Lady Knights’ run in the bottom of the first inning. Harper Adams drew a walk to lead off and Addyson Dolan singled to move Adams to third base. Adams scored on a wild pitch to tie the game 1-1.
In the bottom of the second inning, Kirkley Lowe singled to get the Lady Pirates started. Layla Murray walked. Emma Herbert’s sacrifice bunt moved the runners up a base. Kamryn Haas’ fielder’s choice scored Lowe and a ground out by Alexis Dolan scored Murray. Addyson Dolan’s single drive in Haas to give Greensburg a 4-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Greensburg Tinley Klene doubled to score Adams and Addyson Dolan to extend the lead to 6-1.
Herbert got things started in the bottom of the sixth for Greensburg with a 1-out walk. Haas was then hit by a pitch and Alexis Dolan followed with an RBI single. Adams cleared the bases with a triple to extend the lead to 9-1. Addyson Dolan followed with a triple of her own to make it 10-1. An error allowed Addyson Dolan to score to make the final 11-1.
Addyson Dolan led the offense with two singles, a triple and one RBI. Adams added a single, a triple and two RBIs. Klene had a double and two RBIs. Alexis Dolan singled and drove in two runs. Lowe and Herbert both had a single. Haas had the other RBI.
Adams pitched 6.0 innings, allowing no earned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out 17.
The Lady Pirates knocked off Jac-Cen-Del 13-3 to improve to 9-1 on the season.
Murray got the win in the circle for Greensburg. She pitched 5.0 innings, allowing no earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one. Murray also had two singles, a double and three RBIs at the plate.
