After weeks of uncertainty, Rori Harmon has made a decision about her future. On Wednesday, Harmon announced on social media that she will return to Texas for a fifth season. It was much-needed positive news for a Longhorns team that recently suffered a heartbreaking loss to South Carolina in the Final Four.
Harmon has rewritten the record books during her time with the Longhorns. She is the only player in program history to score at least 1,200 points and have 600 assists. The Cypress Creek High School product will enter her fifth season with Texas as the Longhorns' all-time assist leader.
With almost the entire roster returning, the Longhorns have high expectations for next year. Over the last few seasons, they have steadily improved. That is because veterans such as Harmon have led the way. Given how their season ended earlier this month, they will also have added motivation.
While Harmon has unfinished business, returning was an easy choice. She made that clear in a post on social media.
"I was sidelined for much of my junior year, only getting to play in 12 games," Harmon said in the video. "This university has done so much for me … to be blessed and honored to attend this university, why wouldn't I want to run it back?"
With Harmon's return now official, the Longhorns will have one of the best backcourts in the nation. That will include All-American Madison Booker. With that duo healthy during the 2024-2025 campaign, Texas earned its first No. 1 ranking since 2004 and made it to the Final Four for the first time in 22 years. The only thing missing is a national title.
