don't tread on Lil Billy Bidwill

record is not everything - St Louis still won't build a decent nest nor would Chicago before them, as the Cards did not own a stadium for their 1st century and more! Michael is the first Bidwill with a level playing field, and a home field! Us fans have barely showed up on the timeline. Bill is a principled survivor - longest tenure in the NFL and his father bought the team when he was 1 year old! He is all Cardinal and has faced more adversity than Jerry Jones could imagine! JJ came in after it was a sure thingy! Look at the list of now defunct teams Bidwill survived!

The Miami Seahawks are extinct! Bill is a showcase of Cardinal virtues, He was not gave the Cardinals, He more than earned them! and the 1 billion their worth.

As owner of the Cardinals[edit]

Bidwill's ownership has been marked by little success. In his 52 years as at least part-owner, the Cardinals have only made the playoffs five times. He moved the team to Phoenix, Arizona after the 1987 NFL season after St. Louis refused to build a new stadium to replace Busch Memorial Stadium in spite of the fact that the team was well supported by the local fans. Bidwill had also publicly pledged to support a future effort to gain an expansion franchise for St. Louis. Instead he voted to approve a new franchise in Jacksonville, Florida.
Bidwill had a reputation for running the Cardinals rather cheaply; the Cardinals had one of the lowest payrolls in the league for many years. In recent years, however, the Cardinals have begun to spend more since moving into the University of Phoenix Stadium in 2006. The increased revenue paid off in 2008, when the Cardinals won their division for the first time since 1975 (while they were still in St. Louis), hosted a playoff game for only the second time in franchise history (the last coming in 1947, while they were still in Chicago) and advanced to Super Bowl XLIII. They won another division title in 2009.
In recent years, Bidwill has ceded most day-to-day control over the Cardinals to his sons Michael and Bill, Jr., who serve as team president and vice president respectively. Bidwill also has two other sons, Patrick and Tim, and a daughter, Nicole.[2] After the death of Ralph Wilson, Bidwill became the longest-tenured owner in the NFL.

Other than wanting to demolish the west parking lot and put in a parking garage, I agree.

Actually some new info on Cards site - been awhile since I checked it,

Named a Cardinals vice president during his undergraduate days at Georgetown University, Bill Bidwill returned to Chicago from the Navy in 1956 to begin assisting family interests that included football. When the Cardinals moved to St. Louis in 1960, Bidwill returned to the organization on a full-time basis.
Bidwill continues to have a regular presence at the Cardinals training facility and is a popular fixture at team events, charity functions and football activities. An active supporter of various civic and charitable organizations and endeavors, Bidwill directed the formation of Cardinals Charities, the team’s organization dedicated to supporting worthy Arizona causes, shortly after the Cardinals arrived in the state.
While he is well-known for his understated nature and a preference for staying out of the spotlight, Bidwill has been unable to avoid accolades in recent years for his contributions and accomplishments as Cardinals owner.
At the 2010 annual NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Bidwill was honored with the Paul “Tank” Younger Award from the Fritz Pollard Alliance, whose purpose is to promote diversity and equality of job opportunity in the NFL. The Paul “Tank” Younger Award has been presented annually since ’03 for extraordinary contributions towards NFL diversity and previous winners include Tony Dungy, Dan Rooney and Bill Walsh. “When you look back over the years, Mr. Bidwill has a long history of hiring minorities to administrative and authoritative positions,” said FPA chairman John Wooten. “He has really helped level the playing field and that is what this award is all about.”
Also in February of 2010, Bidwill was inducted into the Sports Faith Hall of Fame in Lake Forest, IL. “(He) was honored as a long-time contributor to the NFL and for his contributions to charity, which he has conducted in a very quiet, very generous manner,” said Patrick McCaskey, chairman of the group’s advisory board and grandson of Chicago Bears legendary head coach George Halas. Bidwill joined Brian Piccolo, the former Bears running back, Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino’s Pizza and former owner of the Detroit Tigers, and John Gagliardi, head coach at St. John’s (MN) University and college football’s all-time wins leader.
At its December 2010 commencement exercises at Northern Arizona University, Bidwill was awarded an honorary doctor of humane letters degree for “his contributions to the university, his community and his profession.”

I was just thinking yesterday. how much nicer it is to follow this team now that they are winning. I don't get to complain about Sendlien giving up the snap count, which apparently was part of the plan. I don't have to listen to people complain about Graves, but instead get to listen to people laud the moves that BASK have made putting this team together. Mitch continues to put together excellent reads which I am sure is much easier since winning. My wife does not have to listen to nearly as many rants as in years gone by. I owe Mike B. a lot of thanks for making my life better.

Pundits and prognosticators still won't believe after we beat the Eagles. But they will after we beat Dallas the following week.

Was listening to Calais Campbell on The Big Red Range on the radio and I was stunned, literally stunned, when he said they are focused in to get home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

He didn't say they want to make the playoffs or get a home game, he said they want it throughout. It really struck me.

These dudes are confident and locked in. It's one thing to say you want to win division games or home games, but another thing entirely to say you want to win those AND NFC games to lock up the tiebreakers.

This team believes. Alot more than we do. I think they believe they're something special. And despite our injuries, belief and confidence are huge in the NFL.

Y'all missed the most important part IMO......the Los Angeles Times is writing about the Arizona Cardinals...perhaps the rumors are true and LA does not even want their own team again....maybe our fan base just spread 300 miles...when/where have we ever gotten more than just a partial paragraph as an afterthought in any major market news source?

Nah, the Times routinely writes articles about all NFL teams, tending to focus on the California teams but any team that is hot. Including the Cards.

Here's an article Farmer wrote about the Giants game and Stanton's first start ..

It really doesn't matter if the the fans there are all that hot on the NFL or not. The NFL is going back. My bet is it winds up being the Rams. They would be the most embraced of all the candidates to move.
