If you registered for tickets to the 2028 Summer Olympics, you’re going to want to start checking that email inbox.

On Tuesday, March 31, notifications for the locals presale will begin going out to fans in qualifying Oklahoma City zip codes who registered for tickets. Randomly selected fans will receive time slots for ticket-purchase windows, the first of which opens Thursday, April 2.

The purchase windows will run through Monday, April 6.

The notification emails for the presale will arrive 48 hours before the time slot opens, so if you don’t get one Tuesday, you haven’t been shut out.

But locals who registered but were not selected will receive an email on Tuesday notifying them that they won’t be able to buy tickets in the presale. They will be automatically entered into another ticket drop happening later this year.

“There has been extraordinary demand and excitement for LA28 tickets,” LA28 vice president of business strategy and analytics Allison Katz-Mayfield said Monday. “We’ve had more than 5 million people from 197 countries and territories around the world register for the LA28 ticket draw.

“That number really speaks to the global excitement for these Games.”

What if you get a time slot to purchase Olympic tickets in the OKC presale?

The email notification of your time slot will arrive 48 hours before your purchase window opens — “So if someone has a time slot on April 3,” Katz-Mayfield said, “they will get an email about that time slot on April 1” — and the window will be open for 48 hours.

The latest purchase window will be April 6, so the latest notification email will arrive on April 4.

Email reminders will be sent before your purchase window opens, and they will include a link to the ticketing platform.

How many Olympic tickets can be purchased in the OKC presale?

For this first ticket drop, fans can purchase up to 12 tickets for Olympic events, including canoe slalom and softball, which will be held in Oklahoma City.

Those tickets can be a combination of any sports or any sessions.

Additionally, fans can purchase up to four tickets for the Opening Ceremony and up to four tickets for the Closing Ceremony, both of which will be held in Los Angeles. Fans in the presale will also be able to buy up to 12 tickets for soccer, which will be held in six cities in addition to Pasadena, CA.

A fan, then, could buy a maximum of 32 tickets: 12 for Olympic events, four for Opening Ceremony, four for Closing Ceremony and 12 for soccer.

A fan’s purchase window will remain open for 48 hours or until the maximum number of tickets have been purchased.

How much will Olympic tickets cost?

What you want to see and where you want to sit will determine how much your ticket costs.

“Our ticketing program will include 1 million tickets priced at $28,” Katz-Mayfield said. “That’s our lowest price point, and those tickets will be available for every sport. Not every session, but for every sport.

“That said, our tickets also go up into the thousands in select cases for our most premium seats at a handful of the most anticipated events.”

Katz-Mayfield said that 5% of all tickets will be over $1,000.

On the other hand, more than 75% of all tickets are less than $400 and nearly half are less than $200.

“For those that might be working on a more limited budget, we’d suggest using the filters we have in place,” Katz-Mayfield said of filters available on the ticket-purchasing platform. “You can filter by price. You can shop by sport, by medal session, venue.”

How many Oklahomans will get to buy tickets in the locals presale?

LA28 officials declined to provide specific numbers for how many people will be allowed to purchase tickets during the presale or how many tickets will be sold during the presale.

And while 5 million ticket registrations is significant, so is the total number of tickets that will be sold for the games.

“We’re targeting roughly, across Olympics and Paralympics, about 14 million tickets,” Katz-Mayfield said.

“So if someone does not get chosen for this first drop, this will not be their only opportunity. There will be tickets on sale in the future, so we’ve got a lot of tickets to move through and a lot of excitement for those tickets.”
