Kylian Mbappe continues to secure his place in the history books.

The French captain has scored in the quarterfinals match against Morocco, bringing his total for the tournament up to eight goals. The goal came an hour into game, the first in a match that has seen lots of French chances but little success until Mbappe came through.

That ties him with Argentina's superstar Lionel Messi in the quest for the golden boot in the 2026 World Cup match. Norway's Erling Haaland is just behind the pair with seven goals.

While Mbappe is now tied with Messi in this World Cup, he's still behind the legandary player in all-time World Cup goals. Messi has 21 goals over 31 matches, making him the greatest of all time.

With this goal, Mbappe now has 20 goals in 20 matches, putting him just behind the Messi but in far fewer matches.
