Busch was briefly hospitalized with a “severe illness," according to his family.

Kyle Busch's life

Busch made his NASCAR debut in 2001, racing in the Truck Series at 16 years old. He competed in six races and produced two Top 10 finishes.

He would have to pause the start of his national career until 2003, following NASCAR’s decision to change the minimum age requirement to 18.

He would join his brother, Kurt Busch, as a competitor in the Cup Series in 2004.

Kyle married Samantha Busch (née Sarcinella) on Dec. 31, 2010. Their wedding was featured in a one-hour television special titled "Fast and Fabulous: A NASCAR Wedding" and aired on the Style Network. The couple has two children, Brexton and Lennix.

The couple had just celebrated Brexton's 11th birthday. Lennix was born in 2022.

Kyle Busch's legacy

Busch lived up to the nickname “Rowdy” and held the claim for winning more races than anyone across NASCAR's three national series with 234 victories.

Busch’s success on the track led to him winning the Cup Series championship in 2015 and 2019 for Joe Gibbs Racing. He also won the regular-season championships in 2018 and 2019.

Aside from his success, Busch was also at the center of notable controversies and rivalries during his career, including one with Dale Earnhardt Jr.

"Kyle and I had a really challenging existence for many years," Earnhardt said in a post on X. "But we luckily took the time to figure out our differences and that was something he instigated with a conversation in his bus around how we each managed our racing teams. I was super eager for us to get on better terms."

Busch was most recently at the center of an incident that involved a late-race clash with John Hunter Nemechek during a race at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this month.

The two drivers made contact before Nemechek was sent into the wall with two laps to go. Busch was not penalized for his role in the incident. Busch finished the race in 20th.
