LAFAYETTE — Rossville baseball had the unenviable task of trying to solve Kouts flame thrower Billy Miller.

Few have been able to touch the sophomore this season.

Through two seasons, Miller has allowed just eight earned runs in more than 106 innings pitched. Last season, he led the Mustangs to a Class A state runner-up finish.

By the time 10th-ranked Rossville got to Miller at Loeb Stadium on Saturday, June 13, the Hornets already were in a big hole.

Rossville mustered five hits, but Class 1A No. 1 Kouts was equally as impressive offensively as Miller's right arm on the mound in a 9-1 Class 1A north semi-state semifinal victory.

Nolan Britt tagged Miller twice, including a run-scoring single in the fifth to bring Eli Barnes across the plate.

Rossville ends the season 19-12, including its third regional championship in the past 10 seasons.
