The New York Knicks are back to work following their long-overdue NBA Finals victory and championship parade.

According to a report from the Stein Line’s Jake Fischer, the Knicks are planning to make an intriguing trade centered on one of the NBA Draft selections.

“As for the NBA's new champions, sources say Leon Rose's front office is planning to move one of the Knicks' two selections,” Fischer wrote Wednesday. “They currently hold No. 24 and the first pick of Wednesday night's second round: No. 31.”

“You'll recall last June that the first pick of the second round resulted in an overnight trade auction that ultimately led to Phoenix (Suns) sending Minnesota (Timberwolves) multiple future second-round picks for the right to select Rasheer Fleming. I'm told that the Knicks, like the Timberwolves, have interest in Spain's Larrea.”

While the Knicks 2026 postseason success proves they’re in win-now mode moving forward, their decision to trade either their late first-round selection or early second-round selection would likely let them land assets that could help positively shape their future.

The move would also provide significant financial relief for the Knicks, giving them the freedom to bring back key contributors like Mitchell Robinson and Landry Shamet, or bolster their bench with alternative free-agent signings.

It’ll be fascinating to see if New York follows through on its well-thought-out draft plan.
