The New York Knicks broke their 53-year title drought Saturday night, completing a gentleman's sweep of the San Antonio Spurs. With the win, New York added another record to what was a historic NBA Finals run. After coming back from the biggest deficit (29 points) in NBA Finals history in Game 4, New York's Game 5 win secured the largest point differential in NBA playoff history.
The Knicks finished with a point differential of +283 throughout their four series wins against the Spurs, Cavaliers, 76ers and Hawks. This surpassed a record set nearly 10 years prior by the 2017 Golden State Warriors, who finished with a point differential of +230 with wins against the Cavaliers, Spurs, Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers. For New York, it was Jalen Brunson who went on to win Finals MVP, with Durant taking home the honors for the Warriors in 2017.
