  • The NBA team will celebrate their championship with a ticker-tape parade through lower Manhattan
  • The Knicks, who last won a title 53 years ago, will receive a key to the city

The New York Knicks are ready to party — and so is the city!

Fans rose early to get the best spots along the parade route in lower Manhattan as New York celebrates its first NBA championship in more than half a century, and local authorities brace for the massive crowds.

The ticker-tape parade was set to begin at Battery Park at 10 a.m. local time, but is currently delayed. Once it starts, it will continue through the Canyon of Heroes before it concludes at City Hall around 12 p.m where Mayor Zohran Mamdani will present the team with a key to the city.

Early Thursday morning, fans broke parade barricades, climbed scaffolding and scrambled onto nearby trucks and vehicles to get a better view.

By 8 a.m., sidewalks were full, as were viewing pens, the New York Police Department said in an advisory.

“As a reminder, if you leave the viewing pens, you will not be allowed reentry,” NYPD cautioned.

Meanwhile, Knicks coach Mike Brown was seen riling fans up with a rousing rendition of “Who Let the Dogs Out,” as Karl-Anthony Towns arrived at the scene cradling the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

At nearby restaurants, fans who arrived too late to get a close-up look settled for ordering Knicks star Jalen Brunson’s iconic breakfast sandwich — and settled in to watch the history on TV.

“We just came to get something to eat, but this is where we’re going to catch the parade,” fan Dayquan Caldwell told The Athletic.

The parade comes less than one week after the Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs in five games for the NBA title.

Since the team outlasted the Spurs, 94-90, on Saturday, June 13 in San Antonio, Knicks players have been riding high with nonstop media appearances and near-endless celebrations.
