The Los Angeles Kings fell short in the playoffs yet again, falling to the Edmonton Oilers for the fourth straight postseason. Despite being up 2-0 in the series, Los Angeles dropped four straight games to lose the series in six games.
Following the quick playoff exit, the Kings decided that enough was enough. The team let go of vice president/general manager Rob Blake, knowing that a change was needed.
This put Los Angeles on the hunt for a new general manager, and it seems that the team could be getting closer to a decision. NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun has reported that Kings president Luc Robitaille and Ken Holland have met recently on the open position.
LeBrun also reported that Los Angeles is expected to discuss the open position with other candidates. It seems that this could be a long process to make sure that they hire the correct person.
Holland would be a great get for the Kings, giving them a front office executive with a lot of experience. Holland most recently worked with the Oilers, helping them to find massive success on the ice.
If the Kings were to bring in Holland, it could help them in a multitude of ways. First, they would have a quality general manager, but he could also provide them with some inside looks at the Oilers franchise.

Ken Holland and Kings president Luc Robitaille met yesterday. Obviously no surprise. I would expect the Kings to talk to a number of candidates.
